Can we sell certificates from our rooftop solar and still claim the solar, or apply them to grid power, under SBTi V2?

No to both. Under SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0, solar you generate and use behind the meter counts as an activity-level action (C29.2). C31.2 bars applying certificates from such units to grid power, and the double counting rule stops you claiming units whose certificates you sold.

What V2.0 says

Why selling the certificates breaks the claim

A certificate carries the claim to the renewable units. Sell it and the buyer holds that claim. Claiming the same units yourself would count them twice, which both V2.0 and the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Guidance rule out.

Exported units are a separate question

C31.2 speaks of units generated and consumed behind the meter. Units your rooftop exports to the grid under net metering are not consumed behind the meter; who holds their attributes depends on your net-metering arrangement with the discom. Get that in writing before counting them anywhere.

Example: a 1,000 MWh factory

Example company.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads net-metered electricity bills and does not count exported units as consumption, so your grid draw is clear. Market-based Scope 2 needs your contract or certificate data. It does not set, validate or assure SBTi targets.
