Senseible

Can I use a SIDBI machinery loan to replace old, energy-hungry machines?

Yes, if the new machine belongs to your existing line of business. SIDBI's machinery loans fund new equipment for modernisation and technology upgrades: EXPRESS up to ₹3 crore and 100 percent of cost; SPEED up to 100 percent, capped at ₹1 crore for new customers and ₹2 crore for existing ones. Second-hand machines are not eligible.

The two schemes

Who qualifies

Udyam-registered MSMEs with a satisfactory operating track record and credit history. The machine must relate to your existing line of business, and second-hand or refurbished machinery is not eligible.

Machinery loan or a green loan

A machinery loan does not ask whether the machine saves energy. If the replacement is mainly an efficiency upgrade backed by an energy audit, SIDBI's 4E scheme or Green Finance Scheme may fit better and lets you show the project as green. If you are adding capacity and the new machine happens to be efficient, the machinery loan is simpler.

How to apply

Apply online through the Apply Now option on SIDBI's website, which opens its loan portal, or through a referral partner registered with SIDBI if you want help with the form.

What Senseible does here

Senseible compares energy per unit of output before and after a machine change from your bills and production records, so you can see whether the new machine delivered the saving you paid for.
