How much CO2 does yarn doubling and twisting add per kg?
Doubling and twisting run on electricity, so divide the section's monthly kWh by kg of yarn produced and multiply by 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. Finer counts and higher twist take more energy per kg. Add any humidification and compressed air the section uses.
Records
- Section sub-meter or machine ratings times running hours.
- Kg produced by count.
- Humidification plant share.
Machines
Two-for-one twisters replace two steps, so compare energy per kg of finished yarn, not per machine.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads electricity bills (CEA grid factor 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, CO2 Baseline Database version 21.0) and diesel, LPG and gas invoices (IPCC 2006 defaults) into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record for each site. Intensity per unit uses the activity count you enter, and estimates are labelled as estimates.
