What is the CBAM default value for Indian steel structures, tanks and forgings?
Indian steel structures and parts under CN 7308 carry 5.930 t CO2e per tonne. Large tanks under CN 7309 carry 6.650, gas cylinders under 7311 carry 6.640, and forged or stamped articles under 7326 carry 4.910. Direct emissions only, plus the 2026 mark-up.
India default values, t CO2e per tonne
- CN 7301 sheet piling: 4.300
- CN 7302 railway track material: 5.450
- CN 7308 structures and parts of structures: 5.930
- CN 7309 reservoirs and tanks over 300 litres: 6.650
- CN 7310 tanks, drums and cans up to 300 litres: 4.310
- CN 7311 00 containers for compressed gas: 6.640
- CN 7326 forged, stamped and other articles: 4.910
Mark-up on top
The listed values are increased by a mark-up: 10% for 2026, 20% for 2027 and 30% from 2028. Goods imported in 2026 always take the 2026 mark-up.
Fabricators
For a fabricator, almost all embedded emissions come from the plates, sections and tubes bought in. If your mill suppliers give verified figures, your actual value is their steel plus your cutting, welding and painting energy, which is small.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads coal, coke, gas, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so an actual figure you send an EU buyer can be traced back to the documents behind it. It does not file CBAM declarations.
