Our plant makes OPC and PPC from the same clinker. How do we split the CBAM figure between them?
Give each product its own figure. Multiply each cement's clinker share by the clinker's embedded emissions, then add the grinding electricity used for that product. PPC carries less clinker, so its figure is lower even though both come from one kiln.
Per product
- Record tonnes of clinker, gypsum, fly ash or slag used for each grade.
- Use the clinker's embedded emissions per tonne for both grades.
- Split grinding power by mill run hours or by sub-meter per grade.
Why one average is wrong
A single plant average makes PPC look worse and OPC look better than they are. Your buyer pays on the grade they import, so each needs its own number.
Keep the batch records
Mill logs that show grade, hours and output per shift are what a verifier will sample.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads fuel, power and production records into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions your EU importer asks for.
