Senseible

Is my petrochemical plant covered by India's carbon credit trading scheme?

Only if it is named. Petrochemicals were added to the emission intensity targets by the January 2026 amendment, with 11 units reported as obligated. A unit has a target only if its name appears, with a 2023-24 baseline and targets in tonnes CO2e per tonne of product.

How to check

  1. Find the January 2026 amendment to the Greenhouse Gases Emission Intensity Target Rules.
  2. Search the petrochemical schedule for your plant.
  3. Note the product unit and the targets for 2025-26 and 2026-27.

What drives the number

Cracker furnace fuel, steam and power per tonne of product. Where several products share a cracker, the notification's product definition decides how output is counted, so keep production by product and by month.

If you are not named

You have no target, but obligated customers may ask for your energy and emissions data, and the offset mechanism lets non-obligated entities earn credits from projects under methodologies BEE has approved.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted plant records, so the monthly intensity behind a compliance figure can be traced to its source.
