Senseible

Is my chlor-alkali plant covered by India's carbon credit trading scheme?

Only if it is named. Chlor-alkali was in the first round of emission intensity targets under the 2025 target rules, but coverage is plant by plant. Electricity for electrolysis is the largest part of a caustic plant's emissions, so captive power records decide the number.

How to check

  1. Find the Greenhouse Gases Emission Intensity Target Rules, 2025 and any amendment.
  2. Search the chlor-alkali schedule for your plant name and location.
  3. If listed, note the baseline year, product unit and target for each compliance year.

What drives the number

If you are not named

You have no target, but obligated customers may ask for your energy and emissions data, and the offset mechanism lets non-obligated entities earn credits from projects under methodologies BEE has approved.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted plant records, so the monthly intensity behind a compliance figure can be traced to its source.
