Is steel rerolled from Chattogram ship-breaking scrap low in CBAM embedded emissions?

It can be. Ship plate and other ferrous scrap brings no embedded emissions into the calculation under the transitional rules; check the definitive-period act. The reroller still counts direct emissions from its reheating furnace and any induction or arc melting, and any pig iron or DRI it adds.

What counts

Rebar and other goods

Bars and rods under 7213 and 7214, angles and sections under 7216, and most other steel in chapters 72 and 73 are CBAM goods, so an EU importer needs your embedded emissions or uses defaults for Bangladesh.

Evidence a buyer will ask for

Scrap purchase records that tie tonnes to production, fuel invoices for the furnaces, production records by product and a verifier's report. Without them, a low-scrap figure cannot be shown and the default applies.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads your fuel and electricity bills into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions your EU importer asks for, and its CBAM cost calculator estimates certificate cost from 2026 to 2034 for covered goods. Senseible does not verify emissions or file CBAM declarations.
